Nominator's project description
| Professor Faist is a world-renowned and internationally acclaimed researcher in one of the most dynamic and exciting fields of physics pushing the control of condensates of strongly interacting light-matter hybrids. His current research focuses on the development of high-performance quantum cascade lasers in the infrared range and on the physics of coherent intersubband transitions in strong magnetic fields. His pioneering work on engineering vacuum fluctuation in terahertz metamaterials and the demonstration of strong coupling between Landau levels and metamaterials is a lasting contribution to the field of material science, fostering the development of unique tools and concepts used by many groups around the world. During his stay in Germany, his research will focus on controlling solid-state phases using vacuum fluctuations in cavities. |
